Movies I Have Watched in October (2024)

I like watching exclusively horror movies (mostly ones I have never seen) in October for the spooks. So here is a list of the movies I have watched I guess.

House of 1000 Corpses

1000corpses

I had no clue what to expect going into this film. The only thing I know now is Captain Spaulding is one of my favorite characters in horror ever. The movie is really worth watching just for him, although it has plenty of fun practical effects and imagery you can expect from a movie titled “House of 1000 Corpses”

Score: 3.3/5

Teeth

teeth

I am writing this just after I watched this movie. The movie is about a young woman who has teeth in her vagina. Knowing this going in I expected a psychological movie that showcases the mental struggles someone would go through with such a condition. However as the movie progresses it gets more and more campy, ridiculous and genuinely hilarious. Great movie to just watch and laugh at, especially going in thinking it will be all serious.

The Invisible Man (2020)

Spoilers

Very entertaining watch, with a few moments that really took me out. Spoilers for real LIKE HOW IS HER SISTER SUCH A #$%$#. FIRST OF ALL WHEN OUR MAIN PROTAGONIST GOES TO HER HOUSE FOR HELP AND SHE GETS ACCUSED OF SENDING A HATEFUL EMAIL WHY DID HER OWN SISTER NOT BELIEVE HER WHEN SHE SAID SHE DIDN’T SEND IT!!! LIKE IT’S YOUR SISTER!!!!! DON’T GET ME STARTED ON HOW HER SISTER TREATED TAYLOR THE WAITER FOR LITERALLY NO REASON, HER DEATH SCENE SHOULD HAVE SUPRISED ME AND LEFT ME FEELING HORRIBLE BUT I WAS GLAD THIS MISERABLE HUMAN GOT DUSTED, AND I AM SURE TAYLOR WOULD AGREE!!!! Sorry that character really bothered me a lot but trust me the movie is good lol.

The Borderlands

finalprayer

NO NOT THE BORDERLANDS MOVIE FOR BORDERLANDS THE VIDEO GAME! THIS MOVIE IS ACTUALLY WORTH SOMETHING! Found footage of a church where some priests are investigating a “Miracle”. Solid movie, I won’t say much as it’s a very mysterious movie that has a very strange but fun ending.

Score: 2.8/5

When Evil Lurks

evillurks

Probably the best movie I watched this month. There are absolutely things that can be changed and improved upon but there are scenes that are so grotesque and unexpected. It’s nice to be suprised by a scene when you have been so desensitized by horror.

Score: 3.9/5

The Conjuring

theconjuring

Never had watched this movie and I don’t know how as this universe has over a dozen movies at this point. What can I say, it is a solid demon possesion/haunting movie. Can’t really say any more than that tbh.

Score: 3.4/5

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

finalthe13thfinal

This is the first movie on this list that I have watched already (and several times). All I will say is Jimmy is the best character in any of these movies.

Score: 2.9/5

Host

Zoom call horror. Made during Covid. Brought me back to dark times. Movie felt like a fun horror project worked on by some college students during lockdown when they had nothing else to do (I’m too lazy to look up if they actually were college students but that’s the vibe I got). Had some decent spooks some annoying characters, I guess watch it if you want to remember COVID times.

The Menu

themenu

This movie made me hate modern films more than I did before watching this. I just got really fed up with how the characters were so “unhuman”. The only character remotely lucid/sane was the main character. The “victims” of the movie do practically nothing to defend themselves. If you like modern movies where the plot is a unique/fun idea but the humanity is completely stripped from everyone involved then I suppose give this a watch. It was entertaining enough.

Terrifier 2

terrifier2

Food’s a little funny at the clown cafe! A little more “depth” than the first film, however it’s just Terrifier. Another dose of extreme over the top gore mixed with comedy. Watch this if you want to question just how far desensitized you are to this crap lol.

Score: 3.1/5

Terrifier 3

terrifier3

And you guessed it, even more gore!!! Yeah watch this if you enjoyed the other Terrifer movies, they escalate it even more (if you thought it was possible). This movie made me laugh a lot more than the other 2 though, but it has exteremly upsetting scenes that really made me question myself as I watched.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes

poughkeepsie

Upsetting movie about a serial killer and his tapes of recorded victims. It’s presented like a true crime film and disects the actions of a serial killer. That’s really all I can say without getting into spoilers, if you like true crime and/or serial killers this is a perfect movie for you.

Score: 2.9/5

V/H/S

vhs

I am a big found footage fan and I hadn’t checked out the V/H/S series but I should have sooner. This collection of found footage shorts was such a fun watch. The first tape showed actually freaked me out, you can tell there is something very off with the girl and the suspense of waiting for things to go south was something else. (Also I need to do some research on the girl in the first tape like seriously her performance was beyond freaky)

Score: 3.5/5

Mr Crocket

crocket

A friend like you is a friend like me! A friend like us is a friend like we! Very inspired by nightmare on elm street. Child predator abducting children through the TV, that’s all you need to know.

Score: 2.1/5

The Void

thevoid

I am suprised I had not heard almost anything about this movie before. It’s not the best movie ever but it doesn’t do anything too badly either. It has several elements of horror and does them quite well for what it is. This includes cosmic horror, cults, cool monsters and it wraps them all together in a fun way.
